Thirty years ago I had no idea what whole food nutrition was. Like many people of my generation, I lived hard and neglected the fundamental principles of healthy living—namely, eating a diet based on fresh fruit and vegetables, plus taking regular exercise. I focused on raising my family, eating out at restaurants due to time restrictions, and worse yet, skipped meals.
But that all changed when I had a major health scare. Suddenly was I faced with my own mortality and I realised that if I didn’t change my lifestyle, I might not live to see my family grow up!
As a result of my “epiphany”, I made the decision to put my healthfirst and start living a healthier lifestyle with less stress and more whole food nutrition and exercise. These days I take far more care over what goes into my body and I do my best to buy healthy whole foods, mainly because they contain more nutrients, but also because they taste a whole lot better!
You might think all this healthy living and whole food nutrition sounds too much like hard work, but that is definitely not the case. It is more a matter of re-educating yourself and adopting different eating habits. And the best bit? Not only do I feel great, I no longer have any serious health problems and can look forward to each day that comes along.
